Student Responsibilities:

  • Use your SIU Email account and check it daily
  • Meet with your Academic Advisor each semester and enroll in classes soon after registration opens
  • Communicate to your advisor any situation that creates challenges for your academic performance, then utilize recommended resources
  • Note: Students may be ineligible for financial support programs if they do not follow through with recommendations made by a member of their success team
  • Create and update your Degree Plan with your Academic Advisor
  • Participate in career development activities to prepare for life after graduation
  • Respond to questionnaires and assessments to provide information and feedback about your university experience
  • Proactively manage and take responsibility for your Academic Success.

 Academic Success is defined as:

  • Maintaining GPA above 2.75
  • Course completion rate above 67%
  • Completing at least 15 hours per fall & spring semester

  • Claim your network ID
  • Access SalukiNet
  • Meet with your academic advisor
  • Submit the immunization compliance form
  • Enroll in classes once registration opens
  • Send academic advisor your in-progress coursework and anticipated AP or Dual Credit
  • Take math placement exam if required by your academic unit
  • Develop the practice of checking your SIU email account daily

PARENTS AND FAMILIES

In order to protect the student's right to privacy, information regarding your student cannot be disclosed by advisors, faculty, staff and administrators without the student's authorization according to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

FERPA form to be completed by students
